DENVER – International Erosion Control Association Region One (IECA) awards its Environmental Connection 2016 Presenter of the Year to Dwayne Stenlund for his presentation on “Developing Best Management Practice Guidance Matrix Decision Trees,” which drew more than 50 attendees and presented on two days at conference.

Stenlund says he’s pleased to win such a respected award.

“My presentation helped participants understand the performance limits of BMPs for developing an accurate and complete SWPPP and how to implement successful BMP program outcomes,” he says. “The class program, drawn from many of my experiences, was developed to help professionals develop an example matrix of one family of standard practice with scaling outcome expectation, where cheap is not the best, review several completed matrices and apply this knowledge using developed BMP decision matrices.”

IECA members can view Stenlund’s full presentation on the IECA website under the knowledge data base section.

Stenlund is a certified profession in erosion and sediment control, working in this capacity for the Minnesota Department of Transportation for almost 20 years, and is involved with design construction and maintenance using old and new ecologically and sustainable based technologies.

He holds a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in plant biology and has presented yearly at the IECA conference.

Founded in 1972, the IECA is a non-profit organization devoted to serving as the premier global resource for the prevention and control of erosion and sediment related problems.
